Wix is one of the most popular website builders on the market. While I have used many different website builders like GoDaddy, Squarespace, etc., Wix has more scalable and premium features.
But do you know what is the most eye-catching aspect of Wix? The cost-effective and transparent pricing structure. Apart from providing cheaper plans, Wix offers a free plan for users to get started easily.
Are you eager to use Wix's website builder? If so, you must know all about Wix website builder pricing.
In this article, I will discuss Wix’s different pricing plans in detail, along with their pros and cons. Make sure you read this article to the end to know more.
Different Wix pricing plans
Wix has four different website plans. They have created them in such a way that people with different needs can undoubtedly find something suitable.
Depending on the plan you choose, the plans will cost you anywhere between $17 and $159. The cheapest plan, known as Wix Core, is perfect for individuals planning to create a professional portfolio.
Wix pricing structure
1. Free: $0 – Suitable for testing before considering pricing commitment
2. Light: $17/month – Perfect for simple yet international websites
3. Core: $29/month – Suitable for selling online and taking payments
4. Business: $36/month – Excellent option for small businesses
5. Business Elite: $159/month – Most beneficial for large online stores
However, if you need Ecommerce features, you need to consider the other three business plans. Wix also has an Enterprise plan for large enterprises and popular business figures.
Before discussing Wix pricing in 2024, here’s a table that will help you quickly compare the Wix plans.
Wix free plan
Those who’re looking for Wix website builder pricing should know that Wix provides a free plan. The free website plan will let you build and customize a Wix site according to your needs. You don’t need to upgrade your plan or provide any payment information.
It’s undoubtedly an excellent starting point for beginners creating websites for the first time. Using the free plan, I could access Wix’s drag-and-drop free website builder. Hence, it makes the website creation process smoother than ever.
But what about the coding experience? Do you need to have any coding knowledge? Fortunately, the free plan will let you build beautiful websites without coding or technical knowledge.
Pros
Cons
However, there are two significant limitations you need to know. Firstly, your website will have a Wix domain. For example, it will look like abcxyz.wixsite.com/siteaddress instead of a custom domain. Users will also see ads on your website, making it look less professional.
Secondly, the bandwidth and storage are limited to 500MB, which is extremely low. These limitations will prevent your website from growing, especially if you are targeting high traffic.
Despite such limitations, you can access excellent features like Wix SEO Wiz as well as the Wix App Market. This will help you use various free and premium apps to boost your website, often without any cost.
Who should use the free plan?
Though I like the free plan very much, it’s unsuitable for business owners. If you want to create a professional website, you should not consider this plan. Because you will have a Wix branding site and ads on your site.
I recommend going for a 14-day free trial for one of the paid plans to leverage the benefits of Ecommerce features. Remember, the free plan will also let you create an online store. However, selling products will require a premium plan.
Wix Light
The basic plan, Wix Light, gives you different features to create a professional business website. This premium plan will let you eliminate the Wix-branded URL, giving you complete freedom to use your unique domain name.
This is where the magic happens. Having a unique domain name means your website looks more professional. Your customers will trust you and your business.
However, just like the free version, you will still face limitations. For example, you will get two collaborations, 2GB of storage space, and 30 minutes of video content.
The video content limitation is the most devastating drawback of the Light pricing plan. It will limit the professionalism of your website, as you cannot add too many explainers or review video content.
Pros
Cons
Additionally, you will only get two separate logins, making internal communication difficult. Customizing and upgrading your website will also become very time-consuming. But that won’t be a problem if you’re the sole owner of your website.
While the offerings are slightly different, you may face quite some problems in the future, especially when your website scales. If you do want to go for this basic plan, make sure the image size is smaller while uploading.
Who should use the Wix Light?
Wix Light is perfect for individuals and small businesses. This plan is made specifically for individuals who want to create engaging websites without Ecommerce features.
For example, freelancers, consultants, local businesses, and photographers who want to connect with their audiences. With an intuitive website builder and various professional templates, this Wix Light can help you create a polished website that reflects your brand identity.
However, the Wix Light plan is not perfect for business owners planning to upload high-quality video content. While you can rely on video integration, the Light plan has limitations in terms of bandwidth and storage.
Wix Core
Wix Core is my first recommendation for users building a full-fledged website for the first time. I would recommend the Core plan to solopreneurs and micro businesses, especially if they seek cost-effective basic and advanced features.
I created a website using the Core plan a few months ago. While I liked the features overall, I found a major disadvantage. If you’re expecting a high amount of traffic to your website, the Core plan is not for you.
Pros
Cons
You can implement your custom domain, though, similarly to the Wix Light plan. Also, you will get the domain free for the first year if you purchase it from the Wix store. You also don’t need to worry about having any irritating ads on your website.
Who should use the Wix Core?
This is the best Wix Ecommerce plan to create a simple yet informative website. For example, if you have a restaurant business and want to use the Wix website builder, make sure you choose the Core plan.
The bandwidth in the Core plan is limited to 50GB. This means that your choice would be limited if you have high expectations of website traffic. This isn’t a feasible option for busy online stores.
So, let’s talk about the features and effectiveness of the Core plan. For that, let me give you an example or comparison of another website builder.
If you have used Squarespace or Shopify before, you might have taken a look at the basic plan. If you didn’t, trust me, it’s not worth the money. The features of the Wix Core plan are better than these two website builders.
However, due to the data limitations, Core may not benefit a business planning to add hundreds or thousands of images to its website. If you’re planning to host your videos on YouTube, you can easily embed them on your Wix website freely, thanks to its copy-and-paste algorithm.
Wix Business
The Wix Business is my top recommendation, and it is mostly for small businesses. While the pricing may look a little bit high, especially when you compare it with the basic plan, the features are worth the investment.
The Wix Business plan has features similar to those of the Core plan. You will get a free domain name for a year and no Wix ads. In terms of storage, the capacity is 100GB, with 10 hours of video content on your site.
You will also have access to two most popular Wix apps: Visitor Analytics and Site Booster. But remember that the Site Booster is free for only a year. These apps will prove highly beneficial while developing a business website.
Pros
Cons
But how do they work? The Site Booster can boost your site’s SERP rankings by providing customized SEO suggestions. On the other hand, Visitor Analytics will help you determine web traffic and page performance.
I really admire the Wix Business plan. But if you’re low on budget, I recommend the Squarespace Business plan.
Still, there’s one primary reason why Wix overtakes Squarespace. The availability of different templates makes Wix an excellent choice for beginners and professionals alike.
Can you create an online store with the Wix Business?
If you’re an Ecommerce business owner, the Wix Business would be perfect for you. For those who are anticipating higher traffic or advanced marketing features, this plan is right for you. You will also get excellent website analytics features.
The best thing about the Wix Business plan is that it will help you make your store online internationally. Thanks to advanced shopping methods and multiple currency features, you will have no problem expanding your business.
So, what’s the difference between the Core and the Business plan? While both provide Ecommerce, the Business plan is suitable for people serious about setting up their online store.
You will double storage space (100GB) as well as more collaborations. Moreover, the Business pricing plan lets you use a Standard marketing suite and Standard site analytics. This way, you can promote your website easily while tracking its performance.
For business owners who are planning to sell their products and services internationally, the Business features will help you tackle two major roadblocks. One displays accurate costs to international customers, and the other receives goods properly from overseas without any problem.
You can also leverage the best benefits of dropshipping suppliers from Wix’s collaboration. In this inventory, you can have up to 250 products and 1,000 product reviews.
Wix Business Elite
The Wix Business Elite is completely different from the other cheaper plans. It is designed to support large enterprises and includes everything from the previous plans.
Moreover, you will get superb technical support from the customer support team. You will always get priority support to skip queues and receive immediate assistance.
When you purchase the Business Elite plan, you will get a Wix logo maker to create social media and professional logo designs. This way, you can showcase your brand to your customers in the most professional look. This is not available for free on the cheaper plans.
You will also receive unlimited storage space and unlimited bandwidth. While it had an uploading capacity of 5 hours of video content, now it’s increased to unlimited hours of video content. These are the aspects why people call Wix Businessd Elite unlimited plan.
Pros
Cons
The Business Elite plan is perfect for people looking for full Wix features, support, and bandwidth. This is why it’s perfect for large enterprises. You will face no problems anticipating a higher amount of traffic.
I believe this is something you should look for if your website is popular. The customer support team will ensure you don’t face extended hours of downtime and issues.
Another important aspect of Wix Business Elite is its analytics feature. Advanced site analytics will provide you with all the essential information to help your customers access your website.
Can you create an online store?
Yes, of course. In addition, if you have a large and highly successful online business, you must choose the Wix Business Elite plan.
If you remember, I mentioned unlimited bandwidth and storage in the previous step. This will prove super helpful to such large businesses. These will ensure you face no issues during a busy day.
Then, you will get an effective unlimited dropshipping functionality as well as customized reporting. It is also ideal for Ecommerce businesses planning to scale. With Analytics Reporting, you will get various line charts, bar charts, maps, and many more.
Wix Enterprise
The Enterprise plan isn’t for everyone, even if you have a medium and large size business. As the name implies, it’s suitable for bigger brands and business leads in the market.
The Wix Enterprise plan will get you everything from the previously mentioned pricing plans. However, the features and effectiveness of this plan are excellent compared to the other ones.
For starters, you will get faster content deployment. You can easily launch scalable sites with extremely unique templates. The drag-and-drop interface will ensure you set everything without any technical knowledge.
Next additional feature is multi-site management. You can streamline your business’s operations with shared assets, custom roles, SSO, and centralized billing. As you get them in one Wix dashboard, you will find this centralized solution super time-saving.
You will also get custom integrations. You can seamlessly connect with software tools, third-party APIs, and apps you’re relying on.
Last but not least, you will get dedicated support from Wix. Apart from providing a dedicated Wix account manager, Wix will also train you and your team.
Wix Website Builder Pricing: Hidden costs
While I find the pricing structure quite transparent, there are some specific costs that you need to be aware of. I have read a few reviews about people's frustrations with this problem.
For example, when you choose a Wix premium plan, you will get a free domain. However, remember that the domain will be free only for a year. You must also qualify for your Wix purchase for the domain.
Once the free one-year period is gone, you need to start paying for that domain. And there isn’t any long-term yearly plan. You need to pay $14.95/year to continue using that domain.
Another thing you need to pay close attention to is the renewal of the Wix plans. Remember that these plans will auto-renew unless you cancel them manually. Thus, make sure you determine your needs and budget before signing in.
I also need to talk about the Wix App Market. While the extensive App store can provide extra functionalities to your website, most of these apps aren’t free. Some are completely paid, and some offer free trials.
Cost of Wix email accounts
When you choose a Wix premium plan, you will get access to Google Workspace. This will cost you $6 per month extra. I believe it’s worth the money as your business will get a more professional look.
However, you can find cheaper alternatives in the market. Consider visiting a custom domain hosting provider and looking for their email account plans.
But, if you want to stick to Wix, there are some important pieces of information you need to know about. For example, Wix comes with premium email accounts through Gmail.
If you’re a fan of Gmail, you won’t face any problems. If you don’t, I suggest looking for some alternatives.
Ready to purchase a Wix premium plan?
Now, you should have a clear understanding of the Wix website builder pricing plan. Now, the main question remains: should you buy Wix?
It’s a strong positive answer from my side. I like the features provided in different Wix plans. As I have used the Wix Business plan before, I can certainly vouch for its effectiveness.
Instead of hiring a graphic designer and spending hundreds and thousands of dollars yearly, you should choose Wix. This is because the drag-and-drop functionality will help you pretty much design your website all by yourself.
I hope you found this blog informative. What’s your opinion on Wix’s pricing structure? Let me know in the comments below.
