Despite winning everyone’s hearts, ChatGPT has some serious shortcomings. 

Understanding the limitations and challenges of ChatGPT is important to manage expectations. You can also identify the areas that need improvement. 

In this section, I will discuss the limitations of ChatGPT, highlighting its potential shortcomings in certain situations. 

1. Cannot access real-time information

ChatGPT relies solely on its database. It cannot fetch information past its pre-trained knowledge from the training data.

It cannot cross-check facts, access the internet, or real-time information. The responses provided by ChatGPT also won’t come with any sources. 

Therefore, you cannot use it if you’re looking for live data or current events. 

The training data of this AI model goes back to 2022. In short, ChatGPT cannot generate responses on the events or subjects that happened after 2022. 

This ChatGPT limitation often leads to false responses, inaccuracies, or outdated responses, making ChatGPT a less reliable tool for tasks that require the latest events. 

If you do need to use ChatGPT to gather facts and time-sensitive information, make sure you cross-check it thoroughly.
