Both Google Bard and ChatGPT have advanced ML techniques, but they do have different designs. 

Google Bard: higher technological foundation

Google Bard runs on PaLM 2. Just like GPT, PaLM 2 uses transformer architecture for data processing and predicting the sequential words. 

Unlike ChatGPT, Bard has additional layers of training. This is why coding, image generation, and accurate translation on Bard are better than ChatGPT.

On the other hand, ChatGPT uses the Generative Pre-Trained Transformer architecture. This large language model is designed to complete different natural language tasks.

I asked Bard to create a brief conclusion for my article, and it generated this response.

Meanwhile, ChatGPT also generated a response like Bard.

As you can see, the conclusions offered by ChatGPT and Bard are informative and engaging. 

In fact, ChatGPT succeeded at generating a neutral conclusion that can align well with the blog topic and target audience. You can tweak it further by giving more specific prompts. 

The creativity part is done and dusted. I hope now you can determine which AI model is more creative. But what about paraphrasing using these tools?

3. Google Bard vs ChatGPT: Paraphrasing

Sometimes, you need to experiment with a new angle or look for a fresh perspective to your blog posts. You can paraphrase a sentence of a paragraph to make it more engaging and interactive.

Google Bard: Too much information

As you can see, ChatGPT did its job pretty well while retaining the key information. ChatGPT also switched a few words with synonyms to change the structure of the sentences.

4. Google Bard vs ChatGPT: Editing responses and questions

While you can ask ChatGPT and Bard to generate any kind of response, there might come a time when you need to edit your prompt.

Making a small mistake in prompt engineering can change the output drastically. Hence, you may want to make some changes to the prompts to get your desired response.

Google Bard: Easy prompt editing

You can modify every response by length with Bard. There is no need to give a more specific prompt again. 

Here, I have asked Bard a question, and it generated a response. However, I have changed my mind and now want a simpler response. 

All you need to do is click the Modify response button and choose the available modifications. Unlike ChatGPT, editing responses in Google Bard is better. 

ChatGPT: Not so easy unfortunately

If you want to edit a response in ChatGPT, the only way to do it is by giving a more specific prompt again. Only then would ChatGPT generate another and more satisfactory result. 

For instance, here I have asked ChatGPT to give me the five best plugins for a WordPress website. The response generated is correct. 

Now, let’s say I want five more. In that case, I need to give a prompt again, specifying that I need five more plugins. 

This point will undoubtedly help you save time by editing the responses and questions.

But how effectively do these AI models work to spend some idle time?

5. Google Bard vs ChatGPT: Small Talk

While both ChatGPT and Google Bard generate human-like responses to the users, they are not quite similar. The responses generated by Bard will be completely different than ChatGPT in some instances.

To engage in a small talk with Bard, I asked a random question to determine its intelligence.

Surprisingly, the response is highly engaging, while also showing some signs of human intelligence.

ChatGPT: Extremely Disengagement

In most cases, ChatGPT fails to maintain the small talk. You can consider continuous conversation, but for that, you need to give another prompt. 

Google Bard, on the other hand, is much more advanced in engaging with users in terms of small talk. 

Here, I asked ChatGPT a small question, and it generated this response. 

Although it’s factually correct, I was looking for a little light-hearted conversation. But ChatGPT shut me up immediately. 

Bard showcased enthusiasm and emotions, which is something I couldn’t see in ChatGPT’s response. 

Overall, Bard gave me a more conversational answer. 

Now that you know how these tools can engage in small talk, you can choose the most appropriate one according to your needs.

6. Google Bard vs ChatGPT: Accuracy 

Accuracy is one of the most important factors when using LLM to generate texts. They don’t always provide truthful information, which will create problems if you rely on the app to fetch sensitive information. 

The accuracy of ChatGPT is very much dependent on the prompt you give. Even if you’re asking for specific information, there’s no guarantee that you will receive 100% accurate information. 

Not to mention, a single mistake in the prompt can drastically change the whole outcome of the responses. 

Google Bard: Reliable in fetching information

Since Bard was developed by Google and searches web pages in real-time, it has the upper hand while retrieving information. 

Bard reads the context on hundreds and thousands of web pages to generate the perfect output for the users. 

Here’s what Bard provided me upon asking the same question. 

As you can see, Bard immediately gave me the correct answer, with other relevant information. 

ChatGPT: Cross-checking is of utmost importance

Relying on ChatGPT to retrieve time-sensitive information is a huge mistake.

Even I cross-checked the information provided by ChatGPT's database to ensure it's factually correct. Here’s an example of ChatGPT giving false information. 

You don’t need to suffer from the same inaccuracy level in Bard. 

In fact, it also provided additional information such as the engines, transmission, and exterior body of the car, something which I didn’t ask in the first place. 

Even though Bard has higher accuracy, it’s still wise to cross-check the information. Don’t forget to monitor the outputs from both tools closely. 

ChatGPT cannot live up to my expectations, but Google Bard did. Now, I will discuss something more important. Pay close attention to the next points.

7. Google Bard vs ChatGPT: Web browsing  

We often use AI tools, including ChatGPT and Google Bard, to know real-time information from the internet. This is where the web browsing capability of these AI tools comes into the picture.

Let's see how effectively these AI tools can browse the internet.

Google Bard: Can browse web

If you use Google Bard, you don’t need to worry about the data limitation. 

This is because Google Bard AI assistant searches the internet in real-time to respond to the users. The best part is that you don’t need to pay for any premium subscription. 

I have asked a question to Google Bard, and I am satisfied with the results. 

ChatGPT: Comes with limitations

The database of ChatGPT is limited to 2022. This means ChatGPT cannot provide you with information released after 2022. 

You can get rid of this data limitation, but you need to purchase the ChatGPT Plus subscription. 

The GPT-4 starts at $20/month, where ChatGPT can access real-time data from the internet. However, the response would still take some time to generate. 

ChatGPT is lacking behind quite a bit. Google did a great job while developing Bard. Let's see if ChatGPT can bounce back.

If you want to research something or write on some topic using Bard and ChatGPT, you will be surprised to know how effectively they can automate the process.

Let's take a look at how they can help you with these time-consuming processes.

Google Bard: Your research and writing buddy

Google Bard can research on your behalf to make your life easier. Does it mention the sources of the information? No, but it will if you ask so. 

You can click on the Google icon (Double-check responses) to do some fact-checking about Bard’s response. 

The text highlighted in green will indicate the links of Google SERPs with similar information. If you see any orange highlighted text, it will indicate results with different information. 

Bard will also provide related search topics, which will help you research more. 

ChatGPT: All-in-one tool

ChatGPT, on the other hand, is more focused on natural language tasks. ChatGPT is trained on web text, and is highly capable of generating statistical patterns. 

Apart from functioning as a chatbot, GPT can act as a translator, summarizer, and other textual roles. 

In my opinion, this makes ChatGPT a more effective writing tool than Bard. 

While the outline provided by both Google Bard and ChatGPT is great, ChatGPT drafted the headings, subheadings, and, most importantly, a working title, taking the response one step further. 

At last, some sense of relief. ChatGPT isn't as useless as I thought it was going to be. Time for some more comparative information.

9. Google Bard vs ChatGPT: Sense of Ethics

When it comes to discussing the sense of ethics in AI models like Google Bard and ChatGPT, it's important to consider the underlying principles and guidelines that shape their behaviour.

While AI language models have the potential to generate diverse and creative content, ensuring ethical use and responsible handling of sensitive topics is crucial. Let's explore how Google Bard and ChatGPT approach the concept of ethics.

I asked Google Bard an ethical question to determine its performance. And, here’s the response from Bard. 

Bard went above and beyond to analyze my command and generate a correct response.

It also helped me know the benefits, the drawbacks, or the things that could go wrong with my strategy. Additionally, it also shared advice on what I should do. 

ChatGPT: Less ethical responses

However, things get a little complicated with ChatGPT. To be honest, I was disappointed seeing the answer ChatGPT gave upon asking an ethical question.

Here’s what ChatGPT gave me. 

The response provided by ChatGPT is extremely generic, with no solution. I asked ChatGPT what I needed to do, and it failed to meet my expectations. 

Bard again took the lead, making ChatGPT tremble a lot. But don't worry! Let's see if ChatGPT can still make a comeback.

10. Google Bard vs ChatGPT: Privacy and data handling

Knowing how AI platforms collect and handle your data is extremely important, especially if you give sensitive or confidential information to the chat window. 

Google Bard: Your data is safe

The privacy policy of Google Bard is aligned with Google Workspace. 

Google stated that they can use the Bard data to provide information to third-party marketers. However, it doesn’t include any personal information. 

ChatGPT: Top-notch privacy policy

OpenAI has an in-depth privacy policy that allows users to understand how the company handles their data. The data you enter in the chat will be stored as conversational history. 

Once you delete the chat, the data will be removed from the OpenAI server. Data of users with API access will be removed after 30 days. 

Nevertheless, it’s best if you don’t put any confidential information on the chat window, as there’s always a risk of data theft. 

Data and privacy concerned users may have been waiting for this point. Despite reassurance from these AI models, stay vigilant.

Sometimes, you may need to share the responses or export them to a different file folder. Copying and pasting is just a pure hassle.

Since Google developed Bard, it has access to Google Workspace. 

You can easily access Gmail and Google Docs directly from the Bard interface. This feature will help you save time and effort. 

For instance, you want to create subject lines for your promotional emails. When you give the prompt, Bard will generate this result. 

Once the response is generated, you can export it directly to Docs and Gmail. 

ChatGPT: Relying on traditional copy-paste

However, with ChatGPT, there is no export option. You need to copy and paste the content manually. 

Copying and pasting the information every time will undoubtedly create problems, especially when you need to paste the information into an important document.

Now that you know which AI model can export responses, its time to talk about their image generation capabilities. Who do you think will win from this specific aspect?

12. Google Bard vs ChatGPT: Image generation

AI chatbots taught us that they can prove useful for numerous applications, including image generation. AI images are not only eye-catching but also easier to produce.

Bard can search relevant images from the Google search engine, a feature that gives it a competitive advantage over ChatGPT. 

Whether you need images for your website, your blog, or your research purposes, Bard can go through other web pages and extract images from them. 

If you click on the image, Bard will open a new tab where you can see the image source. 

ChatGPT: Uses extensions to fill the gap

While ChatGPT cannot extract images from search engines, it can use DALL-E 3 to generate AI images. However, the main drawback is that this feature is available only for ChatGPT Plus subscribers. 

If you do have GPT-4 and DALL-E 3 plugins installed, you can ask ChatGPT to generate any images you want.

Make sure you give specific prompts to receive high-quality and accurate images. 

Both the premium version of ChatGPT and Bard can generate AI images. But being a free-to-use service, Bard gets a great competitive advantage here.

If you had used both Google Bard and ChatGPT, you would have known the verdict of this point from the beginning. ChatGPT's taking a lot of backlash while competing with Bard.

If you’re given an image and asked to analyze it, can you do it within a few seconds? I bet you can’t. This is where AI chatbots come into the picture.

If you give Bard an image with your prompt, Bard will analyze it for you for free. 

You don’t need to install any plugin or pay for any specific feature. 

All you need to do is copy the image, and paste it into Bard along with the prompt. 

Bard can also help you generate a caption from your image. 

However, remember that Bard cannot analyze pictures with people in them as it goes against their data collection policy. 

ChatGPT: Again, you need to buy GPT Plus

ChatGPT Plus users can also do the same thing with ChatGPT. But again, you need to pay for it, and there’s no way to share the conversation with other people. 

This one was a common point, but it helped you know more about their AI image-generating and analyzing capabilities.

Integrations are one of the most important factors of any AI chatbot. The integrations help an AI platform go over and beyond to fulfil search intent.

Google Bard: More integrations at your service

Both ChatGPT and Google Bard can be paired with different apps, but the process is slightly different. 

Bard relies on the Bard extension, retrieving real-time information from Google Workspace, such as Google Drive, Maps, Gmail, Flights, Hotels, and YouTube. 

This means that you can extract some files from your Gmail or fetch any YouTube video directly without leaving the chatting interface. 

Here’s an example of Google Bard retrieving the last email I received from my Gmail inbox. 

ChatGPT: Uses plugins

ChatGPT works similarly but with plugins. 

Over hundreds of plugins are available in the ChatGPT plugins store, and you choose the relevant ones. 

For instance, you can use the Wolfram plugin to get accurate mathematical results. 

You can also try other ChatGPT plugins to find the most suitable ones. 

However, remember that you can use only three ChatGPT plugins at once. 

It's good to see that ChatGPT is winning again. It's been some points since ChatGPT bagged a victory over bard. But better late than never.

15. Google Bard vs ChatGPT: Cost

Price will play an important factor. While businesses and working professionals may not hesitate to pay to use ChatGPT and Google Bard, keep in mind that students and other people use them, too.

Hence, the price may play an integral role in their usage decision.

Google Bard: Uses extensions to fill the gap

Both ChatGPT and Google Bard are free. Users need to sign up with a Google account account to access the chatbot. 

When you use Google Bard, you don't need to worry about paying a premium. This is because Google's most revenue comes from ad services and they don't have any plan to launch a premium service of Bard.

ChatGPT: Not entirely free

But things get a little complicated with ChatGPT. 

ChatGPT uses GPT-3.5. The free version of ChatGPT has numerous limitations. 

If you want to overcome the limitations and leverage the full potential of ChatGPT, you need to subscribe to GPT- 4. 

GPT-4 is much faster than GPT- 3.5 and capable of generating more accurate results. Not to mention, the plugins will help you complete most of your work from the ChatGPT interface. 

If you think Bard cannot cater to your needs and the GPT-3.5 lacks features, you can try out GPT-4.

Again, ChatGPT couldn't beat Bard in terms of pricing. But it is what it is. I am here to compare between these tools and I need to give an honest verdict.

Which one to choose? Google Bard or ChatGPT?

Both Google Bard and ChatGPT are robust conversational tools that can prove beneficial in different areas. 

Bard will outperform ChatGPT when it comes to researching, gaining access to the internet in real time, and generating responses. 

However, ChatGPT is better in terms of writing texts, summarizing paragraphs, generating codes, etc. 

So, there will always be key differences between Google Bard and ChatGPT.

If you ask me, I will always suggest choosing an AI tool based on your needs. Using multiple AI platforms instead of relying on one is the best strategy.
