Client Overview
Chemstations (a Datacor company) makes software that helps chemical engineers design and test chemical processes on a computer. Their main product is called CHEMCAD. Chemstations started in 1988 and became part of Datacor in 2021. Today, many industries like oil, medicine, and green energy use their software. Chemstations helps engineers do smart planning for chemical work, faster and safer.
The Problem
- The client wanted the new site to look exactly like their current one, no compromises. So, we had to match the design almost pixel by pixel.
- They were also really concerned about losing SEO traffic during the migration, so making sure everything transferred smoothly without affecting their rankings was a big priority.
- Another challenge was that their marketing team needed more control, they didn’t want to depend on developers every time they had to update content or build a new page. So we had to make the backend super flexible and easy to use.
Project Deliverables
- We will design and develop 9 unique page templates, each tailored for different types of content and layout needs.
- Using these templates, we will create 18 cloned pages to ensure consistency while populating the site with relevant content.
- We will build 3 custom blog templates, including layouts for blog listing, individual blog posts, and category or tag views.
- We will also handle the migration and integration of existing articles and PDFs from external sources into the HubSpot CMS, ensuring all content is properly formatted and accessible.
Our Approach
Here’s how we planned the project to ensure a smooth, high-quality migration to HubSpot CMS. Keeping in mind, without losing design integrity or SEO performance.
1. Recreating the Design in Figma
Before diving into development, we first replicated the existing WordPress site in Figma. This helped us lock down every detail like spacing, layout, and styling. This step was important to prevent losing anything during the migration. Now, this was to be used later on, to set a visual benchmark to prevent any mistakes from the design point of view.
2. Building a Custom Theme in HubSpot CMS
We did not use pre-built themes, instead, we developed a completely custom HubSpot theme. This theme built from the ground up will be fully responsive. We will take care of the optimizations necessary for performance.
This theme will:
- Include all templates mentioned in the scope
- Be equipped with drag-and-drop, reusable modules
- Allow the internal marketing team to build and edit pages without needing a developer
3. Phased Execution Plan
To keep things organized and efficient, we’ll move in well-defined phases:
- Phase 1: We’ll start with developing all custom templates and blog layouts.
- Phase 2: Then comes content migration including setting up articles, PDFs, and properly structuring your data inside HubSpot.
- Phase 3: Lastly, we’ll run a thorough QA, check for SEO compatibility, and get everything ready for launch.
4. Protecting The SEO Throughout
We know how critical organic traffic is, so we ran a detailed SEO audit. This was to be performed before and after the launch. It will make sure there’s no drop in rankings, site visibility, or performance during the switch.
Timeline
The project was executed in 2 months, with all deliverables completed on schedule through a structured and collaborative workflow.
The Outcome
- We managed to replicate the WordPress design with 99.99% accuracy, you’d hardly notice it was rebuilt on a new platform.
- After launch, there was zero impact on SEO, our detailed prep paid off, and rankings held steady.
- The client loved how easy it became to manage content, custom modules gave their team full control without needing developer help.
- And the best part? They were so happy with the results, they started referring us to others who were also considering a HubSpot migration.
Conclusion
This project was all about precision, performance, and empowering the client’s internal team. By combining thoughtful planning with custom development, we delivered a WordPress to HubSpot CMS site that not only matched the original design pixel for pixel but also improved usability and long-term scalability. With SEO performance protected and content management made effortless, the client walked away with a future-ready website, and the confidence to recommend us to others. That’s a win in every sense.
